Hello!
I am a Research Associate in Democratic Politics at the University of Glasgow, working on the ERC-funded project Democracy Under Threat: How Education Can Save It (DEMED), which is led by Prof. Anja Neundorf.
My research is driven by the belief that promoting democracy is the most effective path toward non-violent conflict resolution and sustainable peacebuilding. I focus on the intersection of conflicts—such as terrorism, armed clashes, and riots—and the dynamics of democracy in fragile and conflict-affected states. My research focuses on two key areas: (1) examining the impact of conflict—such as terrorism, riots, and armed clashes—on individuals’ post-conflict political and economic attitudes and behaviour, and (2) exploring tools to mitigate the negative effects of conflict, particularly through fostering democratic norms and values as a means of peaceful conflict resolution and peacebuilding, in line with democratic peace theory.
I use rigorous empirical methods, including randomized controlled trials, spatial difference-in-differences analysis, and online survey experiments, to evaluate interventions that strengthen democratic support, even in regions hard to reach due to conflict.
Thank you!
